Mountain Biking

Let's Ride!

The first mountain bike trail in Northwest Ohio is in Jermain Park. It was built in 2010 by volunteers and is 6.5 miles long. Click on the 3 videos to experience the different ride areas on the trail. There are 2 preferred trailheads: one is at Jermain Park and starts across from the tennis courts near Upton Avenue. The other is at Ottawa Park near the Police Museum’s road cul-de-sac. The most western part of the trail in Ottawa Park has lots of twists and turns but is mostly flat. After going under the Monroe Street bridge into Jermain Park, there are loops with shortcuts. The harder part of the trail is beyond the Monroe Street bridge, with a climb to the top and then a series of ups and downs like a rollercoaster. This trail was created by a group called Toledo Free Ride and recently held the very first. mountain bike race in NW Ohio.

In 2012 and 2013, another section was added, making the trail 6.4 miles long. This part has more hills and tricky spots in Ottawa Park. You can get to it from the trailhead and then go west under the Upton Street Bridge. In 2021, a grant paid for new bridges, and the section next to Kenwood Boulevard was made harder and longer.

The trails are easy to follow, and there is plenty of parking at the trailhead, which you can enter from Upton Avenue. If you want to reserve the trail for an event, you should contact Shawn Sobel at the Toledo Division of Parks, Recreation, and Forestry.
