Chess Anyone?
Ottawa Park features three playgrounds: two located off Kenwood and one near the Disc Golf course on Ottawa Parkway. There’s also an Outdoor Fitness Center off Kenwood. For winter fun, we have three sledding hills: two between the Amphitheater and the golf course, and one on the east side of Upton, between North Cove and Ottawa Drive.
The park offers 5 miles of paved paths for walking, running, and biking, along with picnic tables and barbecue stands scattered throughout. If you enjoy playing chess, join us most summer late afternoons at the Jermain shelter house.
Shelter Houses
We have two shelter houses available: one in Ottawa Park off Kenwood and another in Jermain next to the tennis courts. They operate on a first-come, first-served basis but can also be rented for exclusive use.
To rent a shelter house or court, please contact Shawn Sobel at 419-936-3887 or email shawn.sobel@toledo.oh.gov.

What is Geocaching?

Geocaching is an outdoor recreational activity where participants use GPS devices or smartphones to hide and seek containers, called “geocaches” or “caches,” at specific locations marked by coordinates all over the world. It’s like a modern-day treasure hunt!
Here’s how it works:
- Find a Cache: Use a geocaching app or website to find the coordinates of a cache near you.
- Navigate: Use your GPS device or smartphone to navigate to the location.
- Search: Once you reach the coordinates, search for the hidden container. Caches can vary in size and difficulty to find.
- Log Your Find: Inside the cache, you’ll find a logbook to sign. Some caches also contain small trinkets for trading.
- Share Your Experience: Log your find online and share your experience with the geocaching community.
It’s a fun way to explore new places, enjoy the outdoors, and be part of a global community of adventurers!
